Oh Sweetgrass, I miss you so. Your tatonka was the best steak I've ever had, despite it not being beef. It tasted just like how I imagine the steak in the Matrix would have tasted. I will forever mourn the loss of your Matrix steak.
Should this restaurant be removed from the Top 15 VENDORS list on the HOME page? I clicked on it and it then shows that it no longer exist and it seems to serve no purpose. What do you think?
I am so sorry to hear this news! We went to Sweetgrass for dinner last Christmas time. The meal was great and our group (8 of us) were all pleased. I forgot to bring my camera and didn't take any photos. I remember the smoked salmon was so delicious. The BBQ pork was tasty. We like the food there very much and wanted to go again. Too bad that we didn't get a second chance.
I only had one meal at Sweetgrass, several years ago, and both the service and food were abysmal. I was actually embarassed to have hosted a business associate there. Since I have been reading all the great things on O.F. about it, and I do value the opinions here, I was willing to give it another try. Your laudatory comments convinced me, and it's sad that I won't now get that chance.
Tried to go to Sweetgrass last night (we had reservations) but there was a sign on the door from the landlord saying the building was closed. The door was locked and there was no explanation from Sweetgrass. Hope they come back soon.
The elk brisket with a cilantro pesto atop a perfectly cooked risotto surrounded by a pool of jus has to be experienced. To bad it was a special. It was highly seasoned reminiscent of a Texas style spice that peppered your taste buds lovingly.
Just had a really great experience here tonight. I didn't think they could step up their game any more but tonight they were on another level. Sorry about the pics but lighting was dim and the blackberry just didn't want to cooperate. These elk dumplings were amazing. They came on a bed of porchini mushrooms hidden underneath with a circle of cream fresh around them.
