10th Anniversary of Ottawa Foodies! [Site]
2016 Sep 19
Congrats Mark (I still think of you as Fresh Foodie, sorry). Quite an achievement for any Internet site to last this long. You're only about one year (and several billion dollars) younger than YouTube! I remember first hearing about Ottawa Foodies when you were interviewed on CBC Radio - can't remember if it was the morning show or afternoon show - and it's been a great resource in the years since. We're lucky that we can not only eat local, but surf local as well - otherwise we'd be stuck on some generic Reddit or ChowHound forum; it's nice to have a place to call our own.

Many thanks Mark for all your work and dedication to ottawafoodies.com. Not only are you the brains behind the operation here .... but your contributions (especially those food porn shots) have always been enjoyable.
You just made me realize I've been hanging out in here for the last 9 years. Yikes.

Over these ten years we have ridden a wave of change that has seen Ottawa’s culinary scene mature dramatically. Our city has become a truly wonderful playground for those of us who love food.
I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed to Ottawa’s food scene during the past decade. The more than 6000 registered users of this site who have selflessly shared knowledge, experiences, and opinions for the benefit of others. The restaurant owners and chefs who leveraged their own experiences and imagination to bring joy and enlightenment to the dining public. And all the interested and motivated food enthusiasts in Ottawa who helped drive the industry to better itself so quickly.
Looking forward to the next 10 years, I plan to continue developing technology for information sharing. In the short term I’ve started work on geolocation features to enhance mobile access. You’ll start to notice maps appearing on vendor entries today. As usual, please let me know of any errors — I’ve sanitized much of the data but there will inevitably be gaps.
I’ve started work on an Ottawa Foodies iPhone app and I’m happy to report that the development version is rather excitingly useful already. Look for it later this fall.
The passing of one decade marks the start of another. Here’s to delicious new beginnings! 🍻🎂🎈
