Happy 20th Linux (It is in your Fridge) [General]

ottawafoodies.com was built on Debian Linux, and it ran nicely on that in my basement for the first 3.5 years of its existence. It is now running happily at a hosting company on CentOS (based on Redhat Linux).
So our heritage is Linux through and through. :-)

Awesome! Glad to see other Linuxers around here. Before getting a macbook pro, I was running Ubuntu on one pc and Linux Mint (which is based on ubuntu) on another. I have had redhat, and debian in the past - as a computer geek in highschool.
Apple pisses me off quite a bit, but for music production nothing beats it, period. Hence my switch to mac.
well..... Mac is unix-based, so I guess it's not too far off. If I had it my way, everyone would be on linux and it would garner the hardware and software support it deserves.

Wow -- really surprised by the number of Linux users here. Although I guess there are some similarities between foodies and Linux users (religious flamewars over restaurants vs religions flamewars over distros/text editors/licenses; sharing recipes vs sharing code; drooling over new cooking tools vs drooling over new hardware).
I myself have been using Linux exclusively for my desktop for ages (and was even a Debian developer for a number of years).

A little late to the table, but count me in as another foodie Linux user. I've been using Linux (currently openSUSE) exclusively since well back into the last millenium... I started with it when the 1.0 kernel came out in 1994. My desktop machine is also a mail/web/PVR/media server... probably not a good idea to try doing all that with Windows.
To bring it back to the foodie theme, Linux is tastier, more affordable, and less filling!

I'm sitting here as one of the 1% who have Linux on the desktop
Happy Birthday!
