oops, i first put this on heart & crown in the market. i didn't realize there were two entries....
my husband, son and i went here for "snack" one saturday afternoon for a pint and sweet potato fries. the beer selection was dismal! (as others have noted). it just reminds me again that i don't like this bar/pub. also, i am certain our waitress was wearing a tube-top as a skirt. i can understand the tight/sexy clothes working for you in the evening, but in the middle of the afternoon when there were other families there? yikes.
anyway, the sweet potato fries were not my favourite. first i had to convince the waitress that they could do a serving of fries as an appetizer. it is not on the menu and our waitress was sure they wouldn't accomodate us, but i asked her just to check. i told her if they couldn't no big deal. she never returned after checking to say yeah or nay, but someone did bring us a good sized cone of fries with mayo.
the fries were lightly battered and more like sweet potato tempura. good, but not my favourite. they weren't really fries in my opinion. they were tasty though.
also, there was a shift change during our meal and our waitress was changed with someone else. she never came to say good-bye, so i am assuming she didn't get any portion of the tip. i thought that was strange since she did all the work.
I think this is incorrect - I have yet to see sweet potato fries at this heart and crown location. They seem to only serve them at the market location (a bit disappointing, since this is one of the main reasons I choose to go to the heart and crown).
A coworker went for the sweet potato fries (with Chipotle dip). He absolutely loved them! I sampled them myself and was impressed. I'm not usually big on sweet potato fries but these were just great. Nice and crispy, which is unusual. Highly recommended.
it was good but I think its too oily and its cutted too thin and you can't really taste sweet potato from one frie you have to grab like 50 however it had tooo much for a side dish
The sweet potato fries were excellent here. I usually get them at the Works but had not tried them at D'Arcy's. They were just as good if not better.
Nice and sweet tasting and very light and crispy. Why get regular fries when you can get sweet potato??
My only complaint? They need some good dipping sauces like they have at the Works (mmmm....chipotle mayo). I cannot in good conscience dip sweet potato fries in ketchup.
