Such a wonderful place! This delicious Loukaniko on pita ($5.95) is nicely grilled and served with lots of tzatziki, red onion, and tomato. The very generous side salad is still $2.50, so the satisfying and nutritious meal is just under $10, tax-in. Food truck prices and really tasty food, served with the biggest and warmest smiles in Ottawa's food community!

The only thing that makes me sad about this place is that I used to live about 200 metres from where it is now and I've since moved to another corner of the city. ;-(

Motivated by the last few posts and a serious weakness for tzatziki, I stopped in at the new location for a beef gyros. It was really good. Fresh pita, great beef, and fantastic tzatziki. There were a couple of things that I found a bit different but still good; the beef was crisped on the spit until it had a bit of bark on it, and the pita was served on the bottom of the container covered with tzatziki with the onions and tomatoes layered on top. The beef was piled on top of that. I am so used to my sandwich rolled in foil with all the ingredients included in every bite. The tzatziki deserves special mention because it was really, really good, and you could really taste the strong, fresh garlic. Oh yeah, $5.56 and I was stuffed and unapproachable.

Had the gyro meal. There was no way to finish that much meat and starch along with a side salad. Underneath all that meat was a heap of potatoes that will go well in hash browns tomorrow. I found the gyro meat very dry as mentioned by FF below. Luckily the tzatziki aided along with water to wash it down. My buddies chicken kebab was a bit on the dry side as well. For $12 you really can't go wrong.

They're back and as great as ever! My wife and I dropped in for lunch and were absolutely thrilled with the experience. Super friendly service, great food, excellent value! Just a few small tables for eat-in, but go at a non-peak time or get your food to go.

My wife's gyro sandwich (pictured) was generous for $4.95. The meat was a little dry as it had been turning on the spit for a while since the last customer. But that's what the yummy tzatziki is for! I tried some of the gyro meat and loved it.

Went on Saturday before a movie with the wife. The ambiance is pretty much what you would expect from a smallish strip mall resto. Just 5 or 6 table and some coming and going from the takeout service. That being said, there is a super friendly staff waiting to help you out. I ordered the gyro sandwich and my partner got the chicken souvlaki platter. I have to say we both loved our meals. Everything was super fresh and the portions are out of control. I am a fan of the gyro meat from the spit but that could stem from my east coast donair background. Personally, it hits on what the both of us are looking for when it comes to Greek. Yes, I understand it's not Greek fine dining.
The other kicker is that having lunch left over for the next day on a bill of $21(gyro sand, souvlaki platter, one pop) for the both of us is pretty great.

Lousy, dry, cheap ground gyros. Horrible tomatoes and bland, sparse tzatziki on pretty dry pitas. Not a good place for Greek fast food. The Shack downtown is much better.

This makes me way happy.
Now i just have to call and harass them into making the stuffed peppers on Thursdays again.

Back in business at a new location (Riverside Drive, north of Hunt Club), now geared more towards takeout and delivery than dine-in.

Wow! That's a bit of a shocker but I imagine the overhead for that space is huge.

Just tried to come here for supper after many years and saw a "Bankrupt" sign in the door. Bummer!

The pork souvlaki platter ($11.95) features two skewers of juicy and tender marinated pork, a mountain of rice with sauce, a handful of the GSH famous potatoes, and a portion of their nice thick tzatziki. And it comes with a generous side salad. This is comfort food that fills your stomach and puts a smile on your face.

I ordered their classic pork souvlaki and adored the cuisine. The portions are huge (only meal of the day and I _still_ didn't finish). They are also well done. The greek salad was a nice balance of feta and dressing. The potatoes are nicely spiced (slightly hot) and numerous. The rice does what rice is supposed to do. Even though there was less meat then rice or potatoes, the portions were generous on a whole.

It is also incredibly cheap for the volume. If you know someone with an incredible appetite, bring them here. The aforementioned massive plate of food was about 14$ after tax. It can also provide leftovers for that price which makes it very much worth the cost.

Same giant piece of decadence as it used to be, served with knife and fork!

There's something unique about the fries here. They're always piping hot with a nice crisp to them. Really, really hot... I can't explain it!

This is one of my favourite salads ever. I love the slightly sweet vinaigrette dressing and the fresh ingredients. The balance of Romaine, cucumber, and tomato is spot on for my taste. I'm not usually a fan of feta but the little cubes here were perfect.

This huge salad is included with the souvlaki plate and costs a mere $2.50 added on to a sandwich. :-)

Too much lettuce to be a true Greek Salad, but it's tasty and isn't that what counts?

A substantial slab of thick lemony custard wedged between layers of phyllo and topped by cinnamon and sweet syrup. I have been known to eat one serving at the restaurant and request another to take home!
