Yes Matt just recently expanded his delivery service to the K1V postal code. I guess business is picking up! The archived announcements are in the blog section of the website. I have been receiving bi weekly delivery for a month or so now and everything has been delicious!
Ottawa Organics must have expanded their delivery service. Originally they did not deliver to my area, but there is a new feature on the website where you put in your postal code and they tell you if they deliver to your area and when.
Last Thursday I got my first order from Ottawa Organics as a one time deal just to try them out. The veggies I received are very fresh including the sweetest cherry tomatoes I ever had and garlic to die for. Matt is a pleasure to deal with and I look forward to becoming a regular customer!
Tiana I was just reading in today's Ottawa Citizen there is a farmers market in Cumberland. I'm not sure if it is new or not but if you feel like taking a drive it will be open on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm until September 15. It is located at the R.J. Kennedy Community Centre in Cumberland. Apparently some organic vegetables will be available for sale and Bearbrook Farms will have a stall there. (They sell organic game meat.) Apparently this Saturday they will be officially opening for the season and Gay Cook will be giving cooking demonstrations and two chefs will be doing a bbq cookoff. (They are Sylvain Alarie of the Heritage Restaurant in Cumberland and Robert Paiement a freelance caterer and chef.)
Not all of their produce is local. Apparently they will be trying to get local organic produce as much as possible but they will be topping up their orders with imported organics some of which will be coming from outside of Canada.
Is this local, organic produce? We belong to the Byward Market organics club but never receive anything from Ottawa :( just from the US and Ecuador and such. I'd love some local produce.
Yep, I spoke with Matt (Matt) at the Green Energy & Transportation show 3 weeks ago and he said things were all set for early June. We got our "launch" email today too! Will post comments here later. :-)
Ottawa organics is now officially open for business. You can order organic fruits and veggies by the box as well as other stuff like milk, coffee, tea, and chocolate. You can have your order delivered or you can pick up at their warehouse on Catherine street. Details are posted on the website.
