I've always been happy with President's Choice Tellicherry Peppercorns. They are from the Malabar Coast of Kerala, India.

Then again, for a fraction of the cost, I get bulk peppercorns from the Samosa Hut/Convenience Store on Richmond Rd. (in my hood) and they seem to be as good as the Tellicherry from Blah-Blah's.

I get my peppercorns from Kardish on Merivale.

Although I love pepper, I can't say I've been too fussy about where I buy it. Try to buy black peppercorns in bulk generally cause that tends to be cheaper (Kardish, Bulk Barn, etc). But I too have have good luck with the President Choice brand at Loblaws. Once in awhile if I see something nice at a specialty food store (like Mrs. McGarrigle's) I'll pick up some more expensive types like pink peppercorns or a jar of mixed (black, white, green & pink).

And for the record, yes I know that pink ones aren't true peppercorns.

Yup, same here - I find as long as you are grinding it fresh, you don't have to be too picky. I just buy the huge no-name container at Loblaws for black peppercorns. Of course you can also get into other varieties, but as far as black goes, just buy it as cheap as you can.

Ashton Green is having a sale (ends in 2 days): www.ashtongreen.com

For the record, I usually buy my spices in bulk from a nearby middle eastern market.
