Foods from Lick's
Comments

Alas, Kingston's Lick's closed many years ago (the one on Princess, down near the waterfront). I lived there when it closed - now I live in Ottawa, and that one's closed too. I accept full responsibility.

OK, not really. But it seems Lick's thrives only in the GTA.

Yes, this is terrible news. Lick's burgers were the best in town. As F-i-H pointed out though, you can get the frozen ones if you look around. Food Basics has them too.

Well... we can just hope that someone else buys the franchise or sets up a new one. Or you can drive to Kingston. ;-)

that's really heartbreaking - we've been to the Works a few times and have been disappointed each time. We were going to try Lick's next time we were craving burgers :(

I noticed that there is a line of Lick's burgers in the frozen section of some stores - the last time I saw them was in the Shopper's Drug Mart on the corner of Merivale and Carling.

That's too bad. It was a good alternative to any of the fast food chains out there.

Lick's on Bank (near Alta Vista) is confirmed closed. Signage is gone, 'for lease' is in the window. Looks like they just up and left one day.

rumour has it that Lick's in Ottawa has closed up shop. can anyone confirm or deny?

This place is really fun!!

It's like a birthday party every day there.

Balloons at every table, and party decor.

The staff sing and make all kinds of jokes.

Great place to take the kids.

They accept Canadian Tire money as well.

The burgers are very good, a little spicey but not spicey-hot. Fries were nice too, skins on, just how I like them.

They have kids meals for $5.00, including a toy.

Too bad there's only one location.

The fries at Lick's are nothing special. They use grated cheese for their poutine instead of curds. But what really gets my goat is that this poutine is expensive!

Lick's, hands down. Best frozen veggieburgers, nothing can beat them. The price hurts, but once in a while it's worth it.

I agree. Lick's veggie burgers are, in my opinion, the best veggie burgers foudn in grocery stores.

Lick's Nature Burgers are sold in the freezer section of Metro and some Loblaws. I find these to be the best burgers and you can easily cook them on the bbq or george foreman grill.

Just got back from Lick's.

I really love their onion rings. They "bite off" instead of seperating, when you take a bite. No pool of grease in the bottom of the container either.

Even after they had cooled down a little they were still "bite-able" and tasty.

I just hate it when you bite into an onion ring and the onion slides out, falls onto your chin and burns you.

None of that going on here.
