spent oil [Cooking]

I've got a few litres of old oil that I'd like to get rid of. What is the best method for this? Obviously, pouring it down the drain or into the green bin isn't going to work. Because yuck. Also ew.

Do you take it to a butcher or an oil-change place for them to deal with?

Top up a nice bonfire with it.

I was told to pour it in my composter.

Why not green bin? That's where I'd put it.

It would probably burn in a diesel engine or oil fired heater.

I suggest freezing it in a biodegradable bag(s) and putting it In the green bin the morning of pickup wrapped in newspaper perhaps. Hmm, do they accept those bags? Or freeze it in cans or bottles and wrap and toss in the garbage as second choice.

I bet putting it in the green bin first, before the rest of your waste, would prevent the issue with stuff sticking to the bottom. ;)

I've successfully put it in my green bin, though I didn't freeze it first. The paper liner soaked most of it up and, as refashionista says...nothing stuck for about two weeks. It was kind of awesome.

I use it in my firestarters for my charcoal grill. Works really well.
