ottawa foodies

Hi, I'm not too familiar with the public facilities available in Ottawa, particularly outside of Centretown. Does anyone know of a public spot with a charcoal BBQ pit that could accommodate a group BBQ of 20-30? Perhaps with a pavilion? Thanks in advance...

Depends what you call a "pit" I guess, and how much surface area you need to cook for that many people. A lot of the NCC properties have charcoal grills. For example at Remic Rapids. But surface area is only about 18" x 24".

I am pretty sure the Rideau River Provincial Park near Kemptville has charcoal pits available, but no idea how big they are. I'll be going there on Canada Day to find out.

mooney's bay and britannia beach both have bbq pits. you would need a few of them to feed that many people. you may want to look into renting a park if you have 20+ people. it isn't expensive ($24 for 1/2 day).

i am assuming you would also want washrooms.

meech lake beaches have charcoal bbqs. it would be hard to have that many people though.

Yeah I should have specified, I'm imagining a pretty big surface, 2' by 3' something at least that big. Thanks for the links I will check those out...

Found this place. You can rent a 2'x5' charcoal grill for $80. Seems pretty pricy...

80 bucks for a grill rental seems reasonably to me.

You may also want to give the Grateful Griller a call and see if there is anything he can do for you.

Partytime is a good rental place; we got our wedding rentals there and they were fabulous.
