The Waitress splattered the appetizer, a blooming onion on the table (I was nice and cleaned it up - assumed she had a rough day) an did not apologize. The entree arrived over 5 mins apart (both were the same). We had requested rare shishkebobs, they were, they were overcooked (well done) The manager in plain cloth walks behind the bar, shuts off the music, leaves us eating in silence, blares belly dancing music on the other side of the restaurant. After having left we were informed that at 9 pm this becomes a shisha bar, there are no signs informing patrons of this (I'm curious if they are abiding by city of Ottawa bylaws) I requested the the bill, payed and informed the waitress the service horrible, Iwould not be returning. After having left the premise and entering my vehicle a gentleman angrily knocks on my car window and proceeds to shout at me in an agitated manner. Apparently, his employee told him that I asked her to tell him to "Go F*** himself" (Which never in fact occurred. The manager then proceeded to get more agitated , I looked at him and informed him that I will be getting out of my car to discuss this with him. The manager then proceeds to state "this is my restaurant I can do whatever I want, if you don't like it leave". I replied "sure thing, that is what I'm doing"
DO NOT visit the TWISTED LIZARD restaurant on Hunt Club! We went last night for a family dinner and they were terrible! The food was overcooked and greasy. I had a burger that was certainly premade, and the tomatoes on it were yellow! When we passed on to the server that the food wasnt good, we were greeted with an attitude by the manager (who was dressed rather skimpily- not so appropriate for a manager) who stated we ate it all (only because it took over an hour and we were starving!), so she wouldnt do anything for us (we never asked for a discount in the first place). Also, they attempted to slip an extra drink charge onto our bill and gave more attitude when we asked them to remove it! BAD BAD BAD! Where is Gordon Ramsey when you need him? Although, i doubt he could even help this place!
I stopped this morning after seeing the sign that said breakfast was served 6am to 11am. I was pleasantly surprised. at 8 am I was the only customer in the place, and the breakast was hot, fast and reasonably priced. 2 eggs, 3 sausage, home fries, texas toast and coffee for $5.99. All were well cooked, not greasy and I quite enjoyed it. It might even tempt me to come in for lunch or dinner sometime.
Sadly I do not expect this place to be around for long. We had a team lunch last week and the place was empty. Food, for the price was not very good. $22 for Fajitas ...give me a break and they were not that good. Other guests, I would say 90% of our table of 14 would not go back. Expensive, slow service and marginal food. Too bad, I was hoping for better. RIP !!
Stopped in last night to see if there were any changes to the menu since the management changed. We so wanted to have a queso fundido or even a good basic cheese enchilada. Sadly it appears that at least for now, the menu has not changed. Same as what's on the website:
Well, maybe I'll stop by in early November. When I went last, just before the grand opening this summer, Twisted Lizard was a big disappointment, in menu, food preparation, and service.
I posted that menu to get Moe to take a look and maybe get the new management to consider something tasty instead of the norm of frozen pre made Mexican that will probably be offered.
don't count on a carry over from that US menu, I'm pretty sure there is no connection between the two restaurants. Also the US restaurant is in Chicago, a bastion for good Mexican cooking - so even though the menu is Tex-mex, it is influenced by the solid mex food around there (my guess anyway).
Ken V. I hope you're wrong too. Would love to get one decent queso fundido in Ottawa, let alone a menu with options for several of them. I guess we'll have to wait till Oct. 31 to see how serious they are about changing things up...
blubarry that is the American version. The one on Hunt Club will probably offer fajitas without mesquite grill. Jarred salsas and sauces and an attempt at ribs. Hopefully I'm wrong.
