A friend pointed me to this awesome Canadian cooking site: www.rouxbe.com
It offers videos to teach various recipes and cooking skills. They charge for full access but there are a few freebie samples. Also, you can get a 30-day free trial.
Having watched some of the videos and read a few of their forum discussions I will say that I'm impressed! They take full advantage of the video medium, e.g. to show you exactly how to tell when your scallops are cooked. I think I've finally found the kind of show I always wished they'd have on the TV food networks.
Are any of you subscribers to that site? It's pricey but the quality is top-notch. One year of access is $99 (similar to 2 months of cable). A lifetime subscription is $199. Ouch. But still... the food porn is stunning.
