Advice on restaurant dining in Old Chelsea/Gatineau [Food/Vendor]

As a new member of Ottawa Foodies, I wanted to tap into the collective experience of any members willing to advise me. My father, aged 80, will be visiting me and my family over the Thanksgiving weekend. We'd like to take a drive to see the fall foliage in Gatineau park, probably on Saturday, then we'd like to stop in and have either lunch or dinner (depending on the time of our drive) in Old Chelsea or elsewhere in Gatineau. My father wants to treat the 3 of us (2 adults and a 13-year-old) and his budget is generous but not extravagant, and of course in our party of 4, tastes vary. From a quick exploration of this site, I've established that Les Fougeres is too pricy for the budget. Cafe Soup'herbe looks good, but might be vegetarian?? Any advice is welcome.

What type of food is your group looking for? If it's french fine-dining take a look at L'Oree du Bois (L'Orée du Bois)

It's a little less expensive than Les Fougeres. A 13-year-old child may be adverse to foie gras and escargots though :P

L'Argot in downtown Gatineau is quite nice, but not extravagent. Savory and Sweet crepes.

Thanks for the suggestions. L'Oree du Bois is a little too adult for my 13-year old. I'll keep l'Argot in mind.

we have had really nice lunches at gerry & isobel's in old chelsea. it is a small, country type restaurant. their website is currently not working.

there is also a wonderful ice cream shop in chelsea with home made ice cream. it is on the main street. i forget the name of it, but it is worth stopping by if your 13 year old likes ice cream. they do some really interesting flavours.

If that ice cream shop you're thinking of is La Cigale (241, chemin Old Chelsea), I second that. It's DEFINITELY worth a stop in. Their Ginger Snap & Chai ice cream - yum.
And near 30ºC is forecast for this weekend too. Perfect!
