ottawa foodies

Hello,

I am looking for a place to buy some tiramisu to serve at a dinner I am hosting soon. Yup, I never baked it nor know how to.

Does anyone know where I can get a pretty decent tiramisu in Ottawa? Of course, I do not plan to go into a restaurant and ask for a desert takeout. ;-)

there is a bakery on preston st, across from sala san marco, that sells tiramisu in various sizes - Pasticceria Gelateria Italiana.

tiramisu is very, very easy to make. no baking required.

M&M Meat Shops sells a frozen tiramisu that just needs defrosting - not restaurant or bakery class of course, but quite tasty none the less and incredibly convienient.

I've seen them at Loblaws. In the bakery case (around $10) as well as a frozen PC brand (around $5).

La Bottega sells what I have been told is a very high quality take away tiramisu. Call ahead though to make sure that they have any left.

If you end up making it yourself, buy the most expensive (hopefully imported) mascarpone you can, as it truly makes a difference. The really good mascarpone is made from cream, from cows that have been fed a special diet that includes fresh herbs and flowers that helps give it that unique taste.
