Why all the effort to make " stuff " that isn't real meat look and feel like meat? If you enjoy the feel and texture of chicken ,well then eat chicken.

Er, most vegetarians I know aren't avoiding chicken because of the taste. While they actually might miss the flavour/feel/texture of meat, they feel better avoiding it for any variety of reasons (ideology/dietary/squeamishness). So non-meat that resembles meat is a really attractive thing to a lot of people, and, in turn, there's a sizeable demand and market for it. That's why all the effort.

Ive had ``fake`` beef, chicken and shrimp at a restaurant in Montreal...don`t remember the name but it was good but expensive. Wouldnt go back but pretty cool how they make it so similar to the real stuff.

Yeah, what smoker guy said ... plus I"ve known a lot of vegetarians over the years and they wouldn't be the least bit interested in things that look and taste like meat.
