I had a very disturbing few minutes at The Cske Shop when I went in this afternoon to pick up a treat.
A woman was being so rude and horrible to the poor girl behind the counter that I felt bad for her.
The woman had apparently ordered cup cakes decorated for a child's birthday party and wanted absolutely no red food coloring or other decorations that might contain red.
What I saw was some pastel green and white decorations which looked very pretty, unfortunately the woman didd not like them and proceeded to yell and berate the server who looked so upset and about to cry!
Why do people think its ok to be rude and horrible to servers and counter help when they obviously did not prepare said product and got what was ordered with all the restrictions in place.
I understand the premise that the customer is always right but being rude and horrible does not fix anything.
Felt so bad for the young lady that I went to the flower shop up the road and got her a rose to cheer her up.

yes people like that are retarded.. I would likely have said something to the customer. I've done it before, even in occasions where situation was flipped. Server was being horribly rude to a client..

You did a very kind deed by getting the girl a rose.

I always make some sort of comment like "obviously somebody is having a bad day." to lighten things up when the staff person comes to serve me.

I make it a point to be as kind as possible to service people to make up for the jerks out there.

People like that are the precise reason I hate people in general (yes: social anxiety much? :)

In a situation like that I will normally say something to the person being the jackass

Though based on some of the terrible things I've seen posted recently on the Cake Shop's facebook page (by who I believe was the owner) I'd have to say this is karma. Unfortunate for that young woman just the same.

No matter what was on Facebook ( I never go on)
There is no excuse for rudeness and being an ass!
I hope I never have to be spoken to like that !
We have dealt with the ladies at the store over many years and they have always been friendly and gone out of there way to help. Even calling a cab for me when I was on crutches and carrying my groceries to the cab!
So karma! I don't know about that.

HA. Since the person working can't really say anything (although I once jumped over the counter and chased someone out of Billing Bridge mall when I was working at Swiss Pastries) as a fellow customer, I feel like I can fill that void.

I love standing up to jerks. Anyone else an ENFP? :)

Zym, curious about the facebook comments you mention. I don't see anything on their page?

HFF: They finally did what everyone was urging them to do and removed the two offending posts.

They were *unhappy* with a new bakery going into their old location. The owner of The Cake Shop accused them of a number of horrible things in a very long thread that spanned several days and was seen by many, based on supposed hearsay from a customer. It was incredibly rude and unprofessional, and verged on slander. It has absolutely turned me off of ever spending my money at The Cake Shop -- at least I have a lot of other choices here in Hintonburg.. :p

I saw the same thread on their FB page and it's made me think twice about shopping there. But like refashionista said we have lots of choice in Hintonburg.
