Bubbles - I agree with the previous recommendations... My first thought when I read this was "Churches"... you might need a Recommendation or IN (congregation member) but I would think it would work out well a win-win for both sides... in that the rent might be quite reasonable for you, and the revenue would be helpful to the church.

Most, if not all churches are not licensed. I have been to many weddings in the basement of a church and they could not serve wine or a drink. Also most of their kitchens are very simple and not fully equipped. I agree with Chef Obi about trying golf courses.

thats a good point about the churces not being fully licensed...so am going to look into the golf clubs for sure and if anyone knows some small / medium restaurants that could use some extra revenue...we wouldnt mind renting it during the hours when they are supposed to be closed...

Oops...

I apologize, I somehow missed the "licensed" requirement.

:)... food&think there's no need for an apology
if you know or see any restaurants that could use the extra revenue...let me know!

Bubbles - I originally thought what you had in mind was to use the kitchen for preparations (ie making jams, pickles, cakes, cookies, whatever)... Now I take it you plan to actually serve customers (such as a food & wine pairing, cooking class, etc.)... correct? Maybe you could elaborate more on your concept, and then we'd be in a better position to think of something that would fit those ideas.

you had it right the first time, we would be preparing the food at the restaurants (or any suitable venue) then serving it else where....so all we need to have is a fully licensed restaurant (for the health inspectors to be able to inspect the place where we make the food...and a licensed restaurant gets inspected anyway, so that would take care of that.
So the place would just be for cooking and preparing then we serve the food else where...sort of like catering, or preparating jams and pickled foods...the reason we want a fully licensed restaurant is for the health aspect of it... just to be sure we are not beraking any regulations etc...

Bubbles - Thanks for the clarification.

Bubbles- I think Algonquin College rents out their kitchens. It's been a year since I was there, but you could give it a shot?

My parents church is licenced and the kitchen is fairly well equipped with a 6 burner stove (I believe), oven, industrial dishwasher, fridge and lots of counter space. They do church dinners - always with wine and beer about every 2 months. There are also other functions, but it may be available.

Maybe a Knights of Columbus hall, like the one in Vanier? I believe there's a kitchen and a bar there.

Along the same lines as golf courses, the sailing clubs/yacht clubs might be willing to rent out space especially now that we're getting toward the end of the season and service is much more limited.
