Thanks, AD_2. We had lunch there yesterday. I just wanted a smattering of bites so had the shrimp rolls, Tom Yum soup with shrimp and the thai spiced chicken wings. The shrimp rolls were okay, soup was very good flavor wise but I would have liked a bit more substance other than just a few slices of mushrooms and the wings were too salty for me though my husband d said they were fine for him. He had the pad kee mau and said it was fine but could have used more heat. It was rated two chilis. I know they will make it hotter but he thought it best to have it "as is" before adding more heat. The women are very, very nice and the food arrived piping hot. We will try them again but likely won't have the same dishes.
at the bottom of the page is says "Delivery to Westboro, Carleton University, Little Italy, Chinatown, Centretown, The Glebe, Old Ottawa South."
i think when you hit the delivery button it's prompting you to make an order, for delivery, hence the menu coming up.
i've only been for lunch and it's ok, not great. i much prefer baan thai. the pad thai at wandee is very heavy and sticky and sweet. the curries are great. the stir-fry dishes i've had have been ok. but that's all going off the lunch menu with the lunch cooks, things could be very different at dinner.
There is a button that says delivery but when I tap on it I get their menu. When I tap on, say, salads, I get a listing of their salads but nothing anywhere about delivery. However, we were there today and asked and they deliver within a four mile radius.
Let me blow your mind here... you're going to call me a liar, you're going to doubt my sanity, my credibility on this site will no doubt take a hit.... but i'm just gonna say it...
.... a cute but cramped little takeaway/delivery counter just off Preston street... is cooking up the best, no, the bestest, Thai food in Ottawa.
I've been to Siam Bistro, Aiyara, Baan Thai, Pookie and the rest... they're all great. But based on three takeout orders in the last couple of months, I'm ranking Wandee at the top.
They nail all the classics... the curries, the veg dishes, the soups... portions are solid, flavor is amazing... the pad thai is like the kind you want someone's Thai grandmother to make... the pineapple rice is like a dish, not a side, and i haven't found black pepper chicken anywhere that's this good. The mango and papaya salads are like a trip to the tropics if the tropics were in Thailand and occasionally lit your mouth on fire in a good way.
Most dishes are made fresh w fresh ingredients... if you do takeaway you can watch them make most of your food on the spot. I think that the chef (who is Thai) is the lady half of the owner couple and the phone/delivery/everything else guy is the other half... they're really nice people too.
And they deliver, which is a huge bonus. They also have a couple of tables inside and picnic tables outside in the summer.
Worth the money, will be ordering again, likely tonight.
