I realize I am one of the very few to comment on this place, but here I go again. We stopped by for lunch and didn't enjoy it as much as we usually do. The Tom Yum was not as flavourful as in times past but the Singapre noodles were very good. What bothers me more and more every time I go there is that the place is in need of a serious cleaning. Today my running shoes were sticking to the floor and looking around, it is seriously dirty. I doubt I'll be back for a while.

Came here for lunch today only to find the doors locked and there were no signs indicating why. I hope they are not closed for good.

We had not been here for a long time and decided to come here for lunch. We both had the Tom Yum soup with chicken, some Panko coated shrimp, pork pot stickers and Singapore noodles which were requested extra hot. Everything was delicious. I am puzzled by the so-so reviews. We are either especially lucky or the other people had bad luck. The Tom Yum soup, at $5.00 is worth a visit all on it's own. A very generous, very flavourful soup with lots of substance and a fair amount of chicken.

Started with veggie spring rolls. They were perfect! Large but not too fat, they were still crispy and warm even though we got delivery. I'd rate them 9/10 with the only drawback being the entirely flavourless dipping sauce.

My husband tried the spicy pad thai with chicken and I had the Singapore noodle stir fry with shrimp. Hubby loved the pad thai. I tasted it and did find it adequately spicy as well as delicious. Rich in peanuts and definitely no ketchup in that sauce. A solid pad thai.

My stir fry unfortunately did not bode as well. It was a very mediocre dish. Although there was a sufficient amount of veggies (julienned snow peas, carrots and some shaved red bell peppers as well as sprouts and grene onions), and a good amount of shrimp, again the sauce was lacking. I actually don't think there was any sauce at all... And this really put a damper on things. I'd only rate it a 6/10.

Total was $35 for two people. No leftovers and we aren't big eaters.

Overall, not bad but also not an incredible experience. The spring rolls will probably get me to come back though. 7/10 :)

On a shopping trip to Ottawa’s Chinatown one Monday afternoon, I planned to hit Ju Xiang Yuan to sample a few appetizers but, unfortunately, it turned out that they are not open on that particular day of the week. Instead, I happened to spy Wei’s Noodle House, which I have never noticed before and which , I think, may be relatively new. I wasn’t especially in the mood for a large, filling noodle meal by any means but I figured they must have a few other things on the menu and decided to give the place a try…

The Food
Cucumber Salad with Shrimp... Rating: 3 out of 5.
Pork wrapped with Betel Leaves... Rating: 3 out of 5
Boiled pork Dumplings... Rating: 2 out of 5

Overall
The service here was good but the meal I had was not terribly exciting. Still, I only sampled a small portion of what looks like an interesting menu so I am planning a return trip sometime to see what they do best. Rating 3 out of 5.

We went here for lunch today. We were avid fans of Fuschian and wanted to see how this place stacked up. We were warmly greeted by both the server and the chef/owner whose name, not surprisingly, is Wei. The menu lists appetizers, rice paper wraps, congee, noodle soups, some specials, rice dishes, vermicelli bowls, pad thai and fried rice. For the latter four dishes, you choose your protein. Thry also have some desserts.

We decided to stick with the appetizers starting with the Tom Yum. Different from Fuschians, but splendid in it's own right. This is seriously good stuff.

Of the appetizers, we tried almost all of them, and the chef served them all together on a big plate. We had deep fried shrimp wontons which were excellent, deep fried pork wontons, also excellent. deep fried shrimp and onion roll, which I had never had before and which was perhaps my favourite, and pan fried fish and shrimp cakes. I did not care for the fish and shrimp cakes and found them too salty for my taste. The appetizers were all $3.99 and portions varied from 2 pieces of each to 7 pieces.

They listed two specials today, a General Tao chicken and an eggplant dish.

We spoke with the chef afterwards and it is his hope that folks who used to go to Fuschian will come in and try his food. He plans on having more daily specials as he gets up and running and is also interested in knowing what dishes people might like him to make.

A very positive experience and we will be back.
