I had a taste of the fish and chips and the fries were excellent fresh cut fried golden. Not sure they used the same fryer to cook the fish since it was heavy with oil and on the soggy side(highr oil temp please). There were specials on the board that were a prime rib and a chicken wrap. Average pub food but a bit far to travel when The Cat is about the same distance for us.
Visited this small pub Friday to meet another couple for supper. Not an extensive beer list so I tried their house brew Barley Marley. Light beer not much flavor comparable to a Budweiser if that is your thing. I had the large fried chicken with garlic mashed and assorted veggies. The batter itself on the chicken was nice enough but the portion size for a large really didn't cut it for me as again I forgot to read the menu Right through to see it was a boneless breast portions instead of chicken parts. Veggies were overcooked and on the mushy side and the garlic mashed were OK but could have used a bit more flavor more garlic and more fat perhaps some cream or butter would have helped. It did come with a tasty peppercorn dipping sauce that helped bring the potatoes to life.
