Thanks to the folks at Roots and Shoots for hosting the grade 3, 4 and 5 kids from Connaught Public School the other day. I went along as a parent volunteer and had as much fun as the kids. We harvested potatoes, and the kids learned a great deal about organic farming and the principles behind it like crop rotation, and natural solutions to pest problems.
We also learned that Roots and Shoots grows food for the Ottawa Food Bank - great work folks!
