Gjetost or lefse in Ottawa [General]

2007 Dec 22
Hi all,

Does anyone know a place in or around Ottawa where one can get gjetost (a sweet Norwegian cheese) or lefse (a kind of flat potato bread I think)? I hope I've spelled those right, I've only experienced them once :) My wife used to be able to get these things out in Saskatchewan, but she hasn't had any luck finding them here.

Thanks!

UPDATE: good timing, we just found some gjetost at the Ottawa Bagel Shoppe. Still looking for lefse though :)

I'm with Obi on making your own lefse. I've made it before and it's not too bad.

The only place I ever saw packaged lefse for sale was in North Dakota.

You can get mail-order lefse but it is NEVER as good as fresh warm home made lefse! My sister found some frozen lefse in a supermarket once which was OK.
Mind you making it can be a long process and makes a terrible mess if you are not careful :)
