May Wine tasting / small plates at Soif Bar a vin Wed May 18 [Events]

The reservation is for 8 and we are going to be 5 or 6 but I will leave the reservation as is since the table for 8 next to the cellar is suppose to be nice.
Checked and we can do separate bills and Veronique Rivest is doing a wine tasting 5-7pm on greek wines so hopefully she is still there tonight when we are there.
If someone else want to join us for tonight, let us know.

I did call at lunch to check if they can do separate checks and did indicate we might be down 1-2 people and they were okay with it.
Soif had one of the room full with the Greek wine tutored tasting in French 5pm-7pm with Veronique Rivst and the other room was only half full and they had 3 people at a large L shape table or 2 tables so no issue with 5 of us at the long table by one of the cellar.
LF's first collection had the vegetable platter top left and the fried beets just below that. Lower left was a custom wine flight LF put together. Several of us had the Greek wine flight and a couple had the pinot noir wine flight

* grilled asparagus with anchovies and something else
* bison tartar and crostinis
* in Centre is the house smoked tasting and the ricotta and honey tartine.

* homemade read with compound butter and tapinade

* Sugar pie with flouron blue cheese
My favourite was the bison tartare and the tempura fiddlehead LF shared was excellent.
Jamie Stunt came by after we finished eating since I has a question about their food and wine pairing dinner a couple of weeks ago... I also asked about the Gold medal plate and it sound like a huge undertaking with 500 plates to be prepared by each participant.

Soif is having a patio party Thurs May 19 4-7pm for the opening of their patio...
The official patio opening party is almost here. The weather is looking great and there are still a few spots to be had. Robert Pendergast @chefpendergast, oyster shucker extraordinaire, will cracking open some freshly arrived oysters from 4-7pm. There will also be a huge selection of summertime wines.
Free canapés will be served, the music will be playing, and the ping pong table will out. Come and enjoy the best patio in town!
uhmm, I have a meeting downtown at 7pm so maybe I will go a little early and do the patio thing :D

Veronique Rivst is a great sommelier and I had some wines that I did not expect to like there at the matched wine dinner and wanted to go back to try some of the regular menu and the ever changing wine list.
