I read they are switching over some of the McDonald's in the Ottawa area to the new "fancy McDonald's" model. Anyone have any idea if any have opened up and if so, where?

If you check out Andrew King on Twitter @twitandrewking. He was invite to a soft launch at the McDonalds on Merivale/near Prince of Wales. I think it was about 3 weeks ago

According to my wife, the Kanata North (March Rd) is switched up.

I think the one near Algonquin has been switched. They have touch screen ordering and had a big reno last month.

if you are talking about touch screen ordering and the create your own taste burgers, St Laurent beside the Science museum and the one on montreal rd near olgilvie are switched over

I was in the one down on Rideau with Francis last weekend, and it appeared to have been converted as well. There were a couple of people trying to get customers to pre-order and pay at the wall instead of waiting in line.

If you go to the website it tells you which locations have the create your own burgers (fancy). We went to the Barrhaven location. This is the pic of my sons burger. The service seemed strange so I would probably just order and pick up at the counter. Kids thought it was great. I got the lettuce wrap but forgot to take a pic. It was really good! Not cheap...for McDonalds.

I've been loving the self-order kiosk. It's great to be able to customize your order and see exactly what all the options are. Here, I added two slices of tomato and a lettuce leaf to my Bacon and Egg McMuffin. There was no extra charge for this.

I haven't tried the build-your-burger thing yet, but since it's based on the Angus patty it's bound to be pretty good. You can say what you want about McD's but you can't accuse them of sitting still and resting on their success!

What, pray tell, is leaning up against the burger?

Merivale comes near Prince of Wales just south of Fallowfield, of course! All those north-south running roads by the river curve up and link to Prince of Wales (or at least used to...)

They actually aren't north - south roads, they are perpendicular to the river.

That's why almost everything is on an angle in Ottawa... at least historically.

Worked good back then makes it maddeningly slow to get to some places...

Now if you could get the new burger, without the beef patty I might enjoy it.
I hate beef and do not like McD burgers, their chicken grilled wrap is just ok.
If I get McD,I just order a grilled cheese.

But all the burger toppings like cheese, guacamole,tomato would make a very good sandwich.
