wood fired pizza [Cooking]

2015 Jan 13
Have always wanted a wood fired pizza oven but the big fancy ones are well over $1000 even if you build them yourself. Am working on a small version for < $500 that does just pizza or similar flat things and heat up quickly. Trial #2 will be this eve but the first running of it was delicious! Lots to learn still.

What temperature do you cook the pizzas at in your oven? We use our charcoal barbecue for pizzas regularly (even in the winter unless the temperature is really extreme). Definitely better than the oven. Sounds like a good project.

Nice work! Any arm hair left? :-)

How many pizzas are you usually cooking at one time?

Would a Green Egg or something similar not serve the purpose? Or does it not get hot enough?

No arm hair left fortunately.

I can cook a single 12" at a time in it and am too cheap to buy a BGE for such things :)

Sweet - on my bucket list. I skipped the sound - did you have parchment paper underneath? I saw you pulling something off from under the pizza.

Do you deliver?

Stewtine: I cannot sign up to that but I am open to a social foodies pizza eve this summer when I get my prototype up and running off of my back deck onto a proper base!

Sourdough: yes on the parchment. I have tried corn meal to no avail and it always ends in frustration.

BTW Russell has peels at the best price I could find in town other than the workshop in the basement!

Nice work krusty ... though I gotta make my standard comment - it is called "wide screen" not "tall screen" :-)
