Tis the season to stuff my wallet full of cash and wonder 2 hours later where it all went... Christmas magic?

This one at the Museum of History, on now and all week-end, has interesting vendors. I am hoping to be able to drop by and check it out myself: www.museedelhistoire.ca

Went to the Museum of History craft fair this afternoon. Managed to spend more than a few bucks at the smoked fish place. Got smoked trout, smoked salmon/trout antipasto (2) and smoked salmon mousse (3). All lovely stuff. Also bought some cheese and some jalapeno jelly unlike any other jalapeno jelly I have ever had. It is more like a very thick syrup and just a dab goes very well with the cheese. Also bought a baguette from the ubiquitous Art-Is-An bakery. Not sure what they were doing there but it was handy to be able to pick up a baguette to go along with the cheese and the smoked items. Not a lot of food displays. A bit of chocolate, the aforementioned smoked fish, some baking, cheese and a few preserves. There were a LOT of jewelry and soap vendors.

Not to say anything against my favourite craft show homies, but sometimes these things are just overloaded with jewelry, soap, and hot sauce vendors. I did the Toronto Gourmet Food & Wine Expo last weekend. In a show that size, there were 5 hot sauce vendors and it seemed like to much. Then again, there were 33 beer vendors and it seemed just about right.
Perspective is everything. Know your market.
We've taken a hand at making soap, so it isn't that hard. The tough nut is finding that one thing that nobody else is trying to do. Like, oh ... I don't know ... vanilla extract or something. It was like they'd never seen the stuff before.
Even at that, there were 2 other companies there selling cocktail bitters. If they allowed jewelry, I'm sure there would have been 50 vendors doing exactly the same thing.
It's tough to have that creative urge and easy access to beads and findings, then find out that EVERYONE is doing it.
Also, I've never seen so many hipster bartenders in my life in one place. Long hair on top, trimmed down sides through the beard and down to a long point. It was kind of funny after a while.

Lots of these sound like they're worth checking out.
