Catering licensing [General]

I know there's all kinds of info out there on the types of licenses, etc, you need for a catering business in Ottawa, but my question is: is it actually illegal to operate a small catering business without being licensed? If so, does anyone know the penalty?

I'm not sure what the penalty would be but a vendors license is not expensive, you could probably find everything you need @ the City of Ottawa website...

Interesting enough, a few years ago a place I know got busted for selling alcohol without a liquor license as well as serving under age, they were told to remove the alcohol & were fined a whopping $100, serving underage WITH a liquor license can cost you thousands, amazing isn't it?

LOL, I'm surprised there aren't more 'underground bars', buy your beer @ Costco in Gatineau, buy your liquor & Wine in Ogdensburg & Bob's your Uncle!!
