[EDIT: Updated yet another topic with capitalization, punctuation, and acronym expansion...Original topic was "good eats in sf"]
[EDIT: I'm also looking for sushi in bc. Ever since Taste of Japan disappeared there hasn't been much to choose from there. :P]

Highly recommend...
1. In n' Out (because you have to, because it's amazing)
2. Pork Store Café for breakfast or brunch (great character, great part of town, great food)
3. Swan Oyster Depot (a staple if you like fresh seafood)
4. Anywhere in Chinatown (hard to go wrong here)
If you're feeling adventurous and want to hop across the Bay Bridge to Emeryville (about a 10 minute drive or 15 minutes on BART), East Ocean has one of the best views, and best dim sum, I've ever had.
Also the Ferry Building has an amazing farmer's market with insane treats. Highly recommend cruising to the back area and finding the unassuming "4505 Meats" stand for one of the best burgers of your life.
Everything mentioned above is pretty affordable.
PS: The snark in this forum is rampant. Surprised people can tolerate being here.

@Fresh Foodie, I heartily recommend Hanami in YVR for both sushi and donburi. It was a recommendation by airline staffer and is mostly frequented by them being somewhat out of the way in the airport, located just before the security gate for International Departures on Level 3. I actually like their sushi so much that I try and give myself at least an hour leeway when flying out of there.

Johanna, good to know! I'll seek it out as a welcome alternative to Vera's next time I'm in Vancouver airport. Specific to my request though, I meant Bells Corners when I wrote "bc". Acronyms can be misleading. ;-)

I did write the full san francisco in the title before abbreviating it in the text.
Yes it is America's cup not Air Canada.
Slanted Door in the ferry was good and so was Hog island oyster happy hour with 1.50 fresh oysters and $9 appies squid and pan fried anchovies.
Boulevard was good but pricy.

I would second the ferry building farmer's market and restos. The imperial tea court was nice too.

GF might limited the choice of restaurant a bit.
Hog Island Oyster had a fabulous clam chowder with whole clams. The oyster happy hour has gone up to 1.50 and had half dozen twice with assorted other stuff. The pan fried anchovies were fabulous.
Slanted Door had an excellent crab cellophane noodle and the shaking beef was good but not cheap at $35 or $38. The lemongrass chicken was excellent.
