ottawa foodies

Just passed by Papagus earlier this week and noticed that it's closed, to be replaced by another greek restaurant and wine bar.

Sad day in Ottawa, Papagus wasn't Milos, but has been a staple around here for greek food for years.

Anybody know what happened?

Amusingly I just posted a comment about exactly this to the entry for Papagus a few hours ago!

Do you happen to remember the name of the new place that's going to open?

The owners decided it was time to freshen up the look of the place. That simple.

Well...ok, its never that simple: there was a change in ownership, some law suits and declining standards/service. The owners are great people and I'm looking forward to the renovation.

The new place will be called "Mystico".

Will it still be Greek?

I loved Papagus and was pretty disappointed when I tried to take the s.o. there only to find that it was closed.

Yes, the new place is going to be Greek. I remember the sign in the window mentioned a Greek food and wine bar.

I hope this renewal can improve the quality of this restaurant. Papagus was very boring!
