ottawa foodies

hi everyone,

I have been assigned the responsibility of choosing a restaurant for my parent's 40th anniversary. I was hoping to get your recommendations based on the following criteria:
-mid range price
-must be able to accommodate a 1 year old baby
-good wine and beer list
-good vegetarian options

I think that's about it. I am open to any type of cuisine.

What does "mid range price" mean to you? How much per person all in?

Also,
how many people?
do your 'rents have any preferences? (ie: your dad hates spicy food...)
any geographic preference?

no particular preferences with regards to the food or location.

Big daddy's / lonestar on baseline or pilos Greek on Montreal rd. Brought both my kids there when they were pretty young and no problems. I think they match all your criteria.

which day of the week are you thinking of? Lunch or dinner?

Actually I would recommend Signature if you are doing it Wed-Sat. Was there for lunch and the couple at the next table and a < 1 year in a pram.

If some are willing to take chef's choice on Wed they have the deal of 4 course menu with a bottle of wine (red or white) for $99/ couple. Otherwise you can order a la carte or they have other 4 course menus.

If it's a big group with children, I always think that Italian restaurants do family dining better than most. Trattoria and Favorita, both on Preston, would fit the bill.
