To move or not to move?? [General]

Hi foodies we have a bit of a dilemma we own Mona's Snack Shack a chipwagon trailer located at 3798 Bank st, at Capital Golf center this is our first year as chipwagon owners we have been open since April and business has been slow, there is lots of traffic and golfers at the course. Now this chipwagon was formally called The Lunch Box, and did not do well it was never open and the food was so so, our food is awesome lots of great feedback from those that do come, we are open 7 days about 11 - 6pm. We don't now whether to stay and try to built the business or move somewhere else because of the bad reputation the old owners gave this place.
So any input and comments will help whether we stay or move.
We figured we would ask you guys.
We are on Facebook please check us out.

Is that your bowel speaking?
Always best to move...

EDIT: In case my comment seems facetious (it was), I should clarify that when I first saw this topic the post above me was empty. All I saw was the topic name. Browser glitch? Anyway, no offense intended.

Advertising can't hurt. Put up signs in the parking lot saying UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT and paint the trailer in gay new colours to make it really stand out. Do EVERY thing you can to make people notice it and prove that your place is different.

Then, if all that doesn't work ... maybe think about moving.

I'm not familiar with the area, but maybe a couple of sandwich-board-type signs could help to draw people in.

Seems like a slightly odd location. Golfers will eat at the golf club, and presumably most of the traffic is vehicular. I'm no expert, but I'd reckon that you need foot traffic more - I know I'm very unlikely to stop at a food truck if I'm driving, but I might if I were walking.

Otherwise I'd think that you need to try and make yourself a destination, and for that you need to have something specific that people come for and are prepared to make a detour or special journey for. Not "you must go to Fred's Truck for the great food", but "you must go to Fred's Truck for the fish taco / chilli dog / pickled octopus / whatever".

Yeah put up a sign "New Owners / New Food" or something like that.

And if you have something interesting besides chips/burgers/dogs Make sure the signs let us know that. I don't often stop at a chipwagon on impulse, but a real food truck is a different thing. Like Johnny English says, push the stuff that makes you different.

Also is there dinner potential at the location? If there is, 6pm is very early closing...

I would second johnny english's idea: chilli for chilli dog and just chilli. That is something that can be cooked night before or in a slow cooker during the day.

Are you willing to move around abit during the summer months? Festival season is starting so you could always look into jazzfest, bluesfest, chamberfest, etc.

If you want to have some credibility on this site, you probably shouldn’t post a positive review of your own food/business.

Just sayin.......
