Lunch with good beer near General Hospital? [General]

Any place you can recommend?

Ideally with one or two Ontario Craft Brews on tap.

Good food - pub food is sufficient. But something a bit jazzier would be nice.

Not that close but Pelican Grill on Bank.

It is a real wasteland there. I cannot speak to the food, but I am pretty sure I had Beau's or equivalent at Liam McGuires at St-Laurent and Industrial. But if you are driving, I agree you are better off going to the Pelican or into Old Ottawa South which is only a 5 minute drive away.

I assume you speak of the one on carling, in which case, drive east down carling for a bit, and you'll hit Preston which has quite a few good places.

No, the General is on Smythe

The one on Carling is the Civic

Drive north on Smyth to Riverside then south to bank and north on Bank to Pattys or Quinns only about 10 minute drive from General Campus.

If you could forgo the beer, Chuck's Convienience(sp?) store at the Trainyards has great lunch options. The place is strictly take out though.

There is also the Coconut Palm Vietnamese at the Trainyards, Scores or Five Guys.

There's the vegetarian place down the road on Main opposite St Pauls - I can't speak to their beer if they even have any, but the food is pretty decent.

It'he allied the Green Door. Had Beau's last time I was in there.

I wish I could get a decent meal AT the General Campus even without a good beer! Dismal pickings.

I really must try and get down there before that particular counter closes. One of the nurses told me the same thing today. Thanks.

taylors always has good beer on tap. is there a new spot on main street, where that italian shop used to be??

Yes, it's called Main Street Bistro. I've walked past it a couple of times, but it looks more like a low rent takeaway than a bistro - the menu is over the counter on a printed plastic-covered board, like a shwarma place, and as I recall it looked fairly uninspiring. I have seen somewhere that they aim to specialise in smoked meat sandwiches, so that's probably worth a try.
