Boxes of wine at Gatineau Costco? [Booze]

Has anyone tried any of these massive 4L boxes? Comments/recommendations? I've seen them, but have been hesitant to take the risk when there are 4L on the line.

I haven't tried them from there, but I did try wine in boxes like that in France. It does work better than a bottle if you only drink a glass or two, because no air gets into the wine, so the remainder does not go bad.

The boxes of wine work fine. The SAQ started selling those more than 20 years ago. No issue with the container, the only issue is that they usually don't sell high quality wine in those. So it all depends on your tastes. I find some cheap wines quite drinkable, others at least good enough to make sangria with... and others really horrible.

So here is my advice : all those wines are available in bottles too (though maybe not at Costco, you may have to check other grocery stores or the SAQ), so try a bottle of whichever kind you are considering before buying 4 liters of it.

I've found exactly the same thing with expensive wines! ;-)

Isabelle's advice to sample a bottle of the wine before buying a box is excellent!

Don't forget that LCBO Offers some "not so bad" boxed wine! They can be less expensive than those they offer at the SAQ / grocery stores in Gatineau. Same goes for these boxed wines; try a bottle before you invest in four litres!

One advantage to box wine is that some have a dispensing valve that works better than the screw top style for keeping leftover wine from coming in contact with air. And here is another liquor product that's great for camping :)

We buy the wine boxes from Costco often. They are great for everyday sipping wine, or for large dinner/BBQ get together. I usually get the yellow box, with a kangaroo on it. They sell the exact same wine at LCBO and Wine Rack for about 10$ more the Costco I think...The only downfall is that it's so convenient to pour yourself a glass that we end up drinking more! lol

Just curious what you pay for the box? while in florida we could pick up yellow tail at the grocery store for around $5, LCBO is 12 for bottle. BTW its a wallaby :?) Interesting stat is that Yellow Tail counts for over 50% of Australian wine exports by volume.
