Sell them? Why sell them when you can EAT them! Check with local chefs, many with an emphasis on local ingredients (ie, the Savour Ottawa program) will take those off your hands for $ or barter. I think it will be a good year... last year was a bit dry, but I still managed to pick pounds and pounds of them!

Chimi, do you have property that has morels growing on it, or do you go somewhere to pick them. I hope it's not like secret fishing spots. I would love to find some.
I don't know what an average price would be for morels.
New User I would be interested in buying some, but not in quantities that restaurants would use.

Maybe he/she does not like mushrooms or has so many they do not want to use them all....or they like $$$ money!

I've seen dried morels before too- so you could always dry them to use later on if you wish.

Its not that I don't like them . I eat some, give some away, barter them for meal at a fancy restaurant. But if you look around the price per pound can vary from 30-75 $ , not a bad side line for a spring hobby. two year ago I picked 11 Lbs and now I have alot more spots , so if we do have a good year a bit of extra cash is not hard to take...Gabe

Solstice - I don't share my morel picking grounds for a variety of reasons. Just know that ash trees are a great indicator for potential growth in Ottawa. It has nothing to do with money, I really don't care about the $ side of things, mushroom picking is largely about hiking & being outdoors, enjoying nature. I'll go out for 2-4 hour hikes, sometimes I come back with pounds of mushroom, others, not so much!

Someone is not getting my point , i am 50 years old , I am not a city boy ,I have spent my whole life in the bush , all I am asking is for a bit of help, if selling stuff and making a bit of money is so awful I guess I might as well go somewhere else for advice .... Thank you

Gabe - Chimichimi mentioned in his earlier email a place to look/contact for selling produce locally. It is the Savour Ottawa program which is for local producers and buyers (restaurants etc). The website is: savourottawa.ca. There is info on their website about what you would like to do which is to sell your mushrooms.

Good luck!

I think the people/person who owns Le Coprin mushrooms-the people who cultivate the organic mushrooms, their website did say they pick and sell wild mushrooms.
But it did not say what kinds.

And I'm not sure if it is just the mushrooms they pick themselves or that others sell wild mushrooms to them.
I have their website info from the market I shop at.

Champignons Le Coprin

| www.lecoprin.ca | lecoprin@lecoprin.ca | 819-664-8030

-that's just the info from the website anyone can get!
