Looking for MSG Free Chinese [General]

My wife has an MSG allergy, but we love chinese. In my experience a lot of places can make MSG free food for you if you ask, but you get much better food from places that advertise MSG free in all of their food. So far the 2 places I know of are Wing Hing (take out on Merivale) and Ho Ho on Richmond Rd. Wing Hing is surprisingly good for a hole-in-the-wall takeout type of place, Ho Ho is pretty good too, although a bit overpriced (and the meat content in the takeout seems much less than when eating in).

I'd love to find other places, ideally in Kanata or Stittsville (but anywhere else would be ok too!).

Ho Lee Chow (several locations), but I think they are mainly take-out/delivery

Eastern City in Orleans. Tell them you want MSG free before you order. They are pretty good at this.

I know what you mean, we don't usually realize until hubby wakes up in night with pounding heart and sweating all over from the MSG. We buy from Wing Hing too and it's never happened there, but we tried some from a place in Kanata (don't recall the name) and serious MSG. You wake up like you're going to have a heart attack.

With my wife the symptoms are pretty much like having the Norwalk virus. So I can vouch for Wing Hing & Ho Ho, we've been both places around 10 times with no problems. Actually there's never been a problem at a place that advertises the no MSG logo, the couple of issues we've had have been with places that say they can do no MSG.

I'll check out Ho Lee Chow, great name anyways...
