Specifically this is a Maltese savoury pastry. The filling is usually either a ricotta cheese mixture or mushy peas. The pastry itself is usually a layered dough, much like puff pastry or layered filo.

Well, apparently in Toronto there are specialty shops. But in the kosher frozen section of the College Square Loblaws there are Jewish pastries called Bourekas, and the ones with cheese come closer to pastizzi than what I attempted to make at home, lol.
