Yah, it was tender, but the batter had an experimental flavour. Mix it with the dipping sauces, and you end up really confused.

Not as chewy as some but we all agreed that they were not great. This is a fusion restaurant, meaning that everything has to be a little different. The calamari batter had a certain spice to it that nobody could identify. The dipping sauces (one asian peanut/hoisin style and the other a creamy curry flavour) were all right and made the calamari easier to eat. Portion size was excellent (this was a Large).

Freshly fried up calamari at Rayan - recommended!

Just a note: they do not have Calamari alla griglia on the menu anymore (when I went in april of 2011). They only have Calamari fritti which is fried squid. It was pretty good, but pretty much just your average deep fried shrimp with batter and that red sauce.

Fresh Foodie's calamari looks really excellent, but its not the same anymore.

The Calamari alla griglia (grilled squid) were excellent! Tender, succulent, nicely seasoned, spicy with chili flakes, and infused with that wonderful grilled taste. A true breath of fresh air after our previous experience with grilled calamari on Preston Street.

The calamari is quite exceptional. Not too battered and fried. Served with lemon and a very fresh, garlicy tzatziki.

Last time I was here (at Christmastime) I decided to order a bunch of different items to see how they were. We had a huge group, so I figured someone would eat it.

The calamari was wonderful. Not too rubbery, not overfried. The calamari was deep-fried. Easily some of the best I've had. It was a pleasant surprise.

They have lightly seasoned baby calamari rings fried to perfection, served with jalapeno and roasted garlic aioli. The thing that makes these babies different is that they are rolled in corn flour, giving them a crispy, delicious texture.

Good but not exciting is how my bf described the calamari. Half of it was properly cooked and the other half was overcooked.

If you like the battered kind of calamari, you'll find that Tucson's does a pretty good job of it. Crispy thin batter and moist, tender squid rings (no tentacles). Maybe a tad oily, but not in an off-putting way. Served with the boring seafood cocktail sauce.

Their calamari deserves a mention. It’s fresh and lightly breaded and mixed with diced tomatoes and aragula.
