been twice so far, based on UrbanSpoon review, and we live in Orleans. 1st time for lunch. well prepared food (butter chicken and lamb korma, veggie samosa for appetizer) the sauces for both the lamb and chicken really made the dishes, they were really well made and properly proportioned (meat to sauce). the basmati rice was perhaps a tad overdone, but not much at all. the naan was perfect, light, airy, flaky. Moe (owner?) was jovial and friendly, couldnt ask for more. 2nd time for take out supper w/ the kids. same 2 dishes as well as a spicy-er beef dish. all were consistently great as last time, beef was ok, would try something else next time (its not you, its me). a bit more expensive ($50) this time.
My wife and I stopped in for dinner lastnight. We were the only people there for the first hour or so, but it was Monday and we were earlier than the usual dinner crowd.
We both ordered mullitagawny soup (the best I've had in ages), a kebab appetizer, naan, rogan josh and lamb sag.
Good sized portions, nice flavours. We were served by 3 different people over the evening, I think one was the chef and the owner finished off. All were friendly enough. The owner gave us a gift certificate after our meal while we chatted, for no particular reason. Also gave us a 10% coupon We'll deffinitly go back to use them.
So we decided to give it another shot for my husband's birthday since we were in the area. We ordered take out this time and I have to say it was pretty good. The texture of the Naan wasn't right but I think that had more to do with the 30 minutes it sat in the car before eating it. We ordered veggie samosas, butter chicken, naan and 2 orders of rice for just over $20. I really hope they have returned to their old standard of quality. I guess I will have to go again sometime and see.
This place used to be amazing but in the last couple of years they seemed to have changed a lot. My family would meet up for dinner there often and on one occasion the food tasted different (not bad but just not as good) we wrote it off as a fluke but the next time it was the same thing. The staff did not seem as friendly either. I don't know if it's under new management perhaps? Either way I haven't been back.
I had the Lamb Vindaloo Thalee for lunch and at 9$ it was a great deal. A nice portion of Vindaloo, salad, vegetables, rice and Naan. The spicing was nice and hot and the lamb was very tender and tasty.
