This is the place on Bank near Heron next to the Home Hardware, yes?

I swear i've never actually seen a human walking in or out of it... am now utterly intrigued.

We have been dining here, both takeout and dine in, since it opened (3 years at least?). It is really good Indian Fare, mostly cooked by the owner and one assistant - the guy in the leafs hat. The biryani is great, we often get the vegetable as my wife finds the chicken quite spicy and while you can request that they turn down the heat, it is not quite the same. Our standard order includes one of the Dansak dishes and the chicken Bhuna which are both excellent, as well as the Tarka Dal. Our kids (5&7 years old) love the tandoori, the first time that we ate in my son licked his plate clean. The only thing that we avoid are the Samosas as they were a little greasy for our taste, but this is true of most indian restaurants.

Overall we have enjoyed a slightly different take on indian cooking here than you will get elsewhere and the sauces are all full of flavour. The food is very consistent as it is all cooked by the same person and we have never been disappointed.

The business appears to be about 70% take away as the restaurant is small and pretty simple. Do not expect a fancy place, this is a family-run restaurant and the bathrooms could use an overhaul, but the food and the friendly staff keep us coming back.

For those of you talking about a lady cooking, was that the last owner? Because every time I go in, and been there this year at least 3 times, its always a man(who usually has a maple leafs winter hat).

But great food, I've only had takeout. The butter chicken, biriyani, and samosas all delicious. All very fresh.

I've had take-out from IBH once but last Friday, we dined in.

I wished I lived closer to this restaurant -- it is SOOO good.

Although the wait was rather long (the server apologized continually), it is so worth it!

We ordered:
- vegetable biriyani
- naan
- vegetable korma
- eggplant and chickpeas (spicy)

SO delicious and actually too much food!

My vote for the best indian restaurant in ottawa. The lady who cooks the food has a magic ability with spices and the ingredients are fresh and cooked right before your eyes. Extraordinarily complex flavours make even simple dishes interesting and addicitve. If I don't get a beef dhansak once a week from here I feel a bit less complete. If you like spicy this is the place to go as she will make her special heat for you which is any hot, super hot or face melting depending on what you ask. The best thing about it though is that the richness of flavour is there still, unlike just about every other restaurant in town. Decor is middling but who cares when the food is this spectacular. Stay away from the Biriyani rice though. Even though the place is named after it, it's the weakest dish and there are just so many other amazing things to taste...

The lunch buffet is pretty average fare, nothing too spicy or overly complex but it is very good quality ingredients, especially the meat and the price is certainly right. She tones it down for the mass market, unlike dinner.

Best lunch buffet in town? Yes, but the competition is pretty light.

Loved the Naan. Second only to Rangoli in Orleans.

My favourite Indian dish of all time. Spicy and a little sweet but mostly just boundless wide flavour. So addicted.
