Ok, I will just throw it out there; the sandwich I had was better than Dirienzo’s. The Spicy Italian sandwich came with capicolo, spicy salami and ham. I added mustard, pickled onions, lettuce, tomato and spicy oil. It was great. And big!. The bread was soft and delicious.
Grabbed a #3 (Spicy Combo: hot capicollo, spicy salami, Italian ham) from Subito today.
The place offers a very similar experience to Di Rienzo (grab a loaf from a bin, give it to the nice man, he makes you a big sandwich) and the quality is easily as good as you'll get on Beech St. Might it even be better? I'll have to go back a few times to decide.
Sandwich and a largish cannoli came out to $10 flat.
