this is NOT a squirt bottle of ketchup. at ebi, when you are brought this in advance of your entree, prepare yourselves accordingly to be blessed with one of the heart & soul sauces & flavors critical to the korean meal -- kochujang sauce. the others include kimchi & bugolgi & a wide variety of soy, miso & dashi. here it`s done with korean red pepper paste, sugar & honey, a hint of soy sauce in the right proportions. i find every korean resto does it differently. over time i`ve always enjoyed it at this place for some reason...subjective tastes & it always hits the right spot. please enjoy in excess.

dolsot bibimbap at ebi. sizzling in a stone bowl is a mound of sesame oil flavored rice that`s crisping on the bottom, then topped by fixin`s such as beef, julienned veg, shrooms, onions, peppers, a fried egg. now with the kochujang sauce, mix all this up and your taste buds are teleported to some far distant hot exotic lands. so healthy, so good for you.

dolsot bibimbap encore presentation. it`s all about the kochujang sauce.... squirt a lot of this bad boy in your bibimbap and you`ll get a korean food lovers o-face and the ohhh and ahhhs sounds like you wouldn`t believe.

softshell crab tempura @ ebi. squeeze the lemon and let the juice run down. beautifuly light crab flavors, comes with a sweet soy dipping sauce. enhanced by your order of sake on the side. definite REORDER.

the classiest way to enjoy sushi flaves & textures is with sake. try it with hakatsuru sake @ ebi, VERY smoothe and it accentuates asian flavors. impress the natives. millions in japan swear by it.

bibimbap @ ebi. hand down my fave dish in the korean culinary sphere of influence. ground beef with an array of mixed veg hot and cold on a bed of rice in a sizzling stone pot, topped with a fried egg garnished with love. but what makes this over the top are 2 things: i) the rice turning crispy at the bottom of the stone bowl as it cooks in front of your eyes full of lust and anticipation, adding some fun texture and ii) the house red pepper bbq sauce. mix the red sauce with this dish and it's TAKE NO PRISONERS!!!! after many visits and trials, i can say i've replicated their hot sauce at home and it's all about the right proportions. give it a try and see what you come up with! don't forget the stone bowl or it is most def not the same.

now go get your perogies takeout.

bulgoki @ ebi. stay lean with protein! thinly sliced marinated beef stirfried with the korean fixin's. but what makes these dishes foodgasmically delish is the "special sauce". a sweet korean red pepper bbq sauce that the house won't give away the secret... unless you take mom hostage!

tempura soft shell crab roll @ ebi. support ma & pa shops that put extra special care in their offerings and service. nice crunchy crab in a cleanly prepared zen feng shui sushi presentation. nice and tasty and you don't find this at AYCE a$s-blaster sushi joints.
