Encountered the delightful owner at a craft sale downtown - we sampled a number of her yummy baked goods and the standouts were croissants - probably the best in Ottawa, and those flaky pastries with almonds and marzipan - Rizak loved them. We will definitely be going to the shop soon!!
This vendor has opened a retail location in Kanata at 101 Schneider Road (near Carling and Teron). This is dangerously close to my home.... dropped by yesterday for "a few pastries" and walked out with $35 of goodies. Amazing tarts and of course, kouign-amann.
Hello and thank you for your kind comment! As the owner of "Kouignettes & Co", I really appreciate it and I'm glad that you liked my products.
I just wanted to mention to you that since the beginning of 2016 the name of our Company has changed and it is now called "La Maison du Kouign-Amann". We still have our wonderful products and much more and you can still find us at the Carp Market every Saturday morning during the summer season or online at www.lamaisondukouignamann.com.
Thank you again and have a wonderful day!
So that's where they went! We went to the Carp market yesterday and that was one of the things on my list. When we got there, those pieces of pure deliciousness were all gone.😥
I chatted briefly with the owner of this business at the Carp Farmers' Market and partook of the samples offered. I was impressed enough with the Kouignette (a personal sized Kouign-Amann) that I bought a tray of five ($10).
After briefly microwaving (as recommended), this was a most enjoyable, warm, delicious, slightly sweet, rich and bready pastry. I can't wait to share the rest with my family. Or maybe I should just stash them somewhere and eat them all myself! >:-)
