The Tomo roll really is worth coming along for, as others have noted. Beautiful fresh fish too.

Saturday date night! My wife and I were probably the oldest people there but we had a fantastic time. Loud music, lots of hubbub, excellent food, friendly service! The weekend customers lean towards the young and beautiful clubbing end of the human spectrum.

I started with the tomorita ($12, 2oz, top left in pic) -- an Asian twist on the Margarita, containing lemongrass syrup and yuzu. Refreshing and nicely done.

The Wakame seaweed salad ($5) was the best we've had anywhere. Tangy, spicy, succulent. The Tomo fried chicken ($12, top right in pic) was also delicious, piping hot and perfectly crispy. Miso marinated black cod ($15, bottom right in pic) was delicate and supple, but not as mind blowingly flavourful as other dishes. Takoyaki ($5) were juicy and tender, but again we found the flavour less interesting. This is probably authentic -- Japanese cuisine favours simplicity and purity.

For sushi, we tried the Mohawk roll ($11.50), which came as just 4 pieces in a bowl. Nice externally seared salmon, but very pricy. We also had the Kiss roll ($13, bottom left in pic), which had a more generous 8 pieces and was just as delicious. This is expensive sushi, but you won't find such a nice presentation, garnishes, and sauces anywhere else.

The quality stands up to the high prices and if you're looking for a gourmet sushi treatment, it's the best choice in town.

Gyoza, duck skewers and crunchy fried chicken. All was good but I especially enjoyed the tasty morsels of crunchy fried chicken with their accompanying sweet/sour sauce. Also had a nice sake soy that I haven't tried before which was top notch. This is good food.

It really is amazing sushi and beautifully presented! But be prepared to shell out some hefty cash for it. The platter pictured here added up to $50. Sashimi ($16), Spider Roll ($15), Tomo Roll ($12), California Roll ($7). Of course, the sashimi and spider roll are luxury items so you get what you pay for!

I can confirm that the Tomo Roll is still delicious! It's $12, but so beautifully presented and tasty that you really don't mind at all. I also enjoyed the wakame salad with it to round out my lunch!

Tomo roll and an other roll. Ingredients were fresh, rice was nicely seasoned and the accompanying sauces/garnishes were nice and tasty. This is some of the best sushi I've had in Ottawa.

Succulent slabs of salmon and tuna grace the $16 sashimi order here. Perfectly fresh and delightfully garnished with scallions and matchsticks of yellow beet.
