Foods from Pints & Quarts

After living in the neighbourhood for more than a year, I finally decided to give P&Q a shot (it used to be a Royal Oak, hence my lack of rush to visit). For a nice May evening with a Canadiens game on, it was surprisingly quiet.

I had heard others raving about their burgers so I opted for the DIY burger - which comes with cheese and the choice of three toppings. I went with fried onions, guacamole, and two onion rings. It didn't quite have the height of the three-ring binder from the Works up the street, but it was nonetheless a well-seasoned, juicy, and tasty burger. It came with a large handful of fries and a pinch of lettuce mix in the middle of the plate. I don't understand the point of a random scattering of lettuce on a plate unless it is accompanied by some other veggies and a dressing. To reconcile my confusion and the small serving, I'm going to say it was there to put on the burger; but if it was, why no tomato or sliced onion?

One friend enjoyed the Mediterranean burger (tzatziki, goat cheese, feta cheese, and roasted red peppers), but was equally confused with the random green element in the middle of his plate. The other friend had a substantial order of fish and chips, which in keeping with the healthiness of fish and chips didn't include anything green in colour. He ate it with abandon and remarked it was better than most versions found in pubs.

In what turned out to be a bit overbearing, the waitress, while very nice and prompt, would come by the table every few minutes asking us if we wanted another drink. Too bad there weren't many other tables for her to serve...
