We were planning to be in Carleton Place today, so we did a little online browsing for lunch possibilities last night, and ran across this place. The menu looked interesting, so we dropped in for lunch today, and we were glad we did. It's a pleasant space (formerly the home of an Italian restaurant called Ponticello, apparently, and right next door to Ballygiblin's pub.

I had the fish taco, and it was delicious. They happily complied with my request to prepare it sans cilantro. The fish was not breaded, but it and the accompanying veggies were nicely flavored with a chipotle lime dressing. I haven't tried a lot of the taco places around Ottawa, but I would think this one would rank quite highly. It's not their specialty, however, as this was the only taco on the menu. My wife had the daily special, which was a turkey panini with applewood smoked cheddar, which was also a big hit. Both dishes had an excellent side salad with a very tasty and delicate maple vinaigrette (fries were the other option). There are many other interesting things on the menu (wraps, burgers, pizza, steak frites, linguine, pickerel, even a veggie paella), a few of which are only available at dinner.

With a glass of wine each, our lunch came to about $42 before taxes and tip. Our server was very sweet, and we came away well pleased. We'll definitely be back the next time were in the area.
Open 11am - 9pm, Tuesday-Saturday.
