The important bits of the previous review are correct. What you'll find at Cake Café are nothing but quality offerings: paninis, gelato, various pastries - all made fresh daily, and gourmet coffees at *very* reasonable prices. What may come as a surprise to many who sample the tastes is that the café is NOT Italian-owned as the previous reviewer stated. I was informed by the proprietor that while the owner has extensive experience traveling to study French, Italian, and other culinary traditions, they are a Turkish family. The quality is so indistinguishable from these sources of influence however that my Italian-born aunt & uncle (discriminating when it comes to their taste buds, food connoisseurs & frequent global travelers, and excellent cooks/bakers themselves) were shocked to find out that the owners are not themselves Italian. Nothing but goods things to say - I'll definitely be back to one of Ottawa's best kept secrets.
