I had to work hard to try to make this picture of my breakfast look appetizing. My Halloumi and Zaatar Crêpe was presented as a dry looking square on a rectangular plate with a couple small wedges of tired looking melon, for over $10 with tax, no coffee included. Receiving this was a somewhat disappointing experience.
However, when I cut into the crêpe my disappointment turned to glee. Generous slabs of halloumi, slices of fresh tomato, and a light zaatar and oil dressing turned this into a delectable but light breakfast.
It was good, but the price is way too high for what it is. You can choose if you want a crêpe or a panino. If I had chosen the panino, the $9.49+tax would have made for an awfully pricy vegetarian sandwich.
I was there from 7:45am to 8:10am on a Friday morning. It was deserted, save for a couple who came in for takeaway coffee. The floors still had crumbs from previous days and my table was a little sticky. Presumably they have a bustling weekend rush to make up for these slow times...
I like this brightly painted establishment on March Road and have visited quite a few times for breakfast. They offer a large selection of crepes, waffles and paninis - so many that I prefer to browse through the printed version of the menu than trying to figure out the one that is posted up on the wall. They also offer a large selection of gelato.
Our last visit we choose the Canada eh! crepes filled with a mixture of cinnamon and apples and covered with maple syrup and a plain waffle with a bowl of fruit. This was the largest bowl of fresh fruit that I have ever been served at a restaurant. A wonderful mixture and obviously freshly cut because it did not have any of the syrupy sauce covering it. Coffee is pretty decent too.
Overall I find this to be a comfortable place for a relaxed morning. They have a choice of regular tables, comfy couches and high tables and in the summer there is a patio too, albeit overlooking a parking lot, but still a nice place to sit outside.
Went for lunch with some friends and our babies a while ago as we had the coupon from one of those online deal sites. Really enjoyed my meal of a latte, a chicken pesto crepe and gelato! Not the most convenient location for me, but I'd definitely give it a repeat!
Gets a bit busy (and thus slow) right at noon. Delicious food.
