Foods from Cumberland Pizza

Cumberland Pizza is a little pizza joint right across the street from the rideau loblaws. Interestingly it's not on Cumberland St, its on nelson.

Before band practice, I stopped in to pick up a slice of pizza - advertised in the window as "fresh pizza slice". You can choose any kind of pizza toppings you like - prices ranging from $2.50-3.75 depending on the amount of toppings. A few choices are: Hawaiian, Mexican, Lebanese, Greek, Canadian, Meat Lovers, BBQ chicken to name a few. These "flavors" are each made up of at least 3 or four toppings.

I chose the Lebanese which was Ground Beef, Tomatoes, onions, spices (all spice, chili's) and cheese. The toppings were prepared almost like bruchetta, and the server hand chopped them fresh right in front of me. Kind of similar to a Lebanese meat pie, which is how the server described it. The pizza slice itself is a half cooked 6th of a pizza with sauce. They top it up with the requested toppings, throw some cheese on top and stick it in the oven. It was a rather thick slice, but it was perfectly crisp, the pizza held its integrity, the crust was very tasty, and it was not greasy by any means.

The server was super friendly, boasting about the freshness of his pizza (which was okey by me), and openly criticizing Pizza Pizza. +1 in my books. Over all, for $3.40 or so, it was a damn amazing slice of pizza made fresh just for me - with out the use of heat lamps, or the like.

Coupled with Pavarratzi and Bread and Sons, this will be one of my Go to places for Pizza.
