Today I dropped into Nates on Merivale Road as I really miss the old Rideau Street location. I made a take out order of two jumbo smoked meat sandwiches.
The bread was not today's bread, but was yesterdays and that is not smart for a new restaurant. The two pieces of bread in each sandwich did not match each other in size, so meat was continuously dropping out of the sandwich, this from someone who has probably consumed 1000 of them in the past 50 years.
The jumbo was more than $10 each and certainly did not have the quantity of meat to warrant this price. If the regular sandwich is $5.95, if I had ordered 4 of them, there would have been much more meat than in two overpriced jumbos.
I will take the matter up with Dave Smith who I don't believe is going to be very happy with whomever made those sandwiches. Very amateurish if you ask me.
