Aged Eggnog [Booze]

As soon as my new pullets start laying, I am totally making a gallon of this stuff, then hiding it away so it's ready for Christmas! It's pretty well the same recipie I use to make eggnog (lots of eggs and cream), but I've never added that much booze, or aged it.

Made a small batch of this tonight. Now, to tuck it into a fridge where no one will find it so it can age before Christmas. :-)

I'm still sitting on a couple cups of the eggnog I made last December. Maybe I'll have some of it now? (And save the rest for next Christmas, of course!)

I used Michael Ruhlman's recipe: ruhlman.com The amount of alcohol I had to buy in order to put this together was significant (as indicated in the photo), but it was well, well worth it.

I was also able to restrain myself and set a jar aside I made back in November, and it's actually thickening like the Alton Brown recipe mentions. It will be interesting to see what it is like at Christmas time.

Nice hooch, Momomoto! Our little local LCBO didn't have such variety available.

Thanks! It took me a while to find the Four Roses, but it was totally worth it. Especially since I had most of the second bottle left...for a couple weeks, at least ;)
